barn door baby gate

Matt and I started this project earlier in the summer but got busy with other summertime fun. We knew Tucker would become mobile sometime this summer so we thought we would revisit the project when the time came. Well the time has come! Tucker started crawling about 2 weeks ago and we quickly realized we needed to get the gate completed. Matt did 99% of the work in making my vision come to life-he's the best.

First he started off with a plan.

Enlisted the help of an apprentice.
Learning about tools.
Taking it all in.
Measuring, making cuts, measuring again.

Once he was done with the brunt of the work I sanded the rough edges.
Painted the gate with a custom mix of white & gray paint.
Matt added a hook on the inside so little hands can't reach it.
We attached the gate to the existing door hinge. There was a door here but we took it off because we didn't like how it cut off the sunlight that comes in from the window at the top of the stairs.
It works!
